Contributions to the non-native ant (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) Fauna of Türkiye

Özet
Non-native ant species constitute an important component of global biological invasions. Globally, approximately 520 ant species are known to have spread beyond their native ranges, of which more than 300 are established. In Türkiye, 17 non-native ant species have previously been reported. Here, we reassess the status of non-native ants based on material collected between 2016 and 2025 by the authors and citizen scientists, together with a critical evaluation of published records. We report Pheidole parva and Crematogaster scutellaris as newly recorded non-native species for Türkiye, and provide the first locality data for Tetramorium bicarinatum and Hypoponera punctatissima. Conversely, seven species previously listed for the Turkish ant fauna – Linepithema humile, Camponotus compressus, C. maculatus, C. variegatus, Nylanderia vividula, Pheidole megacephala, and Strumigenys membranifera Emery – are excluded due to the lack of recent, verifiable records. In addition, Monomorium subopacum and Hypoponera eduardi are here regarded as native to the Turkish ant fauna. As a result, the number of confirmed non-native ant species in Türkiye is updated to 10.
