Özet
Bu çalışma II. Meşrutiyet’in ilanından sonra Edirne vilayetinde kurulan Tamim-i Lisan-ı Osmanî Cemiyeti (Edirne Şubesi), Edirne Osmanlı Cemiyet-i Hayriyesi, Rumeli Muhacirin-i İslamiye Cemiyeti (Edirne Kulübü) ve Ortaköy Fukaraperver Cemiyet-i Hayriyesi isimli yerel örgütlenmeleri ele almaktadır.
This study examines some local organizations established in the province of Edirne after the proclamation of the Second Constitutional Monarchy Period: the Tamim-i Lisan-ı Osmanî Society (Edirne Branch), the Edirne Ottoman Charitable Society, the Rumelia Islamic Immigrants Society (Edirne Club), and the Ortaköy Society for the Protection of the Poor. Our aim is to identify who founded these societies and for what purposes they were established, as well as to provide information on their activities. The study then subjects the societies to a comparative analysis to reveal their similarities and differences. By evaluating them together with other societies in Edirne, it is also aimed to determine the fundamental characteristics of organized associations in the city. The study primarily relies on the local press and a limited number of archival documents. The main reason for this is that, although the activities of these societies frequently appeared in the local press, the archival records are insufficient. The study concludes with concrete findings indicating that the activities of the societies in question were concentrated in the fields of education and charity. It is understood that the societies provided various forms of assistance to military personnel, civilians, and immigrant groups, and they were active in the field of education. It is evident that the process of forming societies contributed significantly to strengthening social bonds and creating a dynamic social structure in Edirne.
