Özet

The purpose of this study was to determine the innovative thinking tendencies of preschool children. Qualitative research methods, specifically the case study approach, were used. Qualitative data collection tools were employed. A total of 105 preschool children, aged between 5 and 6 years old, representing 50 different classrooms, volunteered to participate in the study. The innovative thinking tendencies of the preschool children were analysed through their drawings in response to the question, ‘How would you design an environmentally friendly pot that meets all the needs of a plant’? The drawings were analysed alongside questions that corresponded to the seven steps of the SCAMPER technique, which were posed to the children. The data collected in the study were analysed using content analysis. According to the results, preschool children drew their environmentally friendly pots mostly in the form of robots and pots that provided automatic care. They had difficulty responding to questions related to the P-Modify and E-Eliminate-Extract steps of the SCAMPER technique, while they were most successful in answering the question related to the R-Reverse step.
