This study investigates the spatial and temporal relationship between tourism and climate in Tekirdağ Province, Turkey, using the Tourism Climate Index (TCI). The main objective is to identify regions and periods suitable for climate-compatible tourism, while providing a strategic framework for future tourism development and investment. Long-term climate data from 22 meteorological stations from 1983 to 2023 were analysed to assess the climate suitability for tourism in different regions, seasons and months. The results showed significant regional differences in climatic conditions suitable for tourism, with the southeastern and southwestern areas of Tekirdağ; being most favourable in May, June, July and September. These results provide important insights for tourism planning and development in the province. By examining the relationship between climate and tourism, this study contributes to the design of regional tourism strategies and the formulation of sustainable tourism policies adapted to climatic conditions, thereby promoting a resilient and climate-compatible tourism sector in Tekirdağ.
