Pleural empyema, is a rare and serious complication of pneumonia in the neonatal period. Because of uncertain pathogenesis, inability to identify any consistent predisposing factors, rapid course, high mortality and its rarity of there is limited, experience regarding the approach to neonatal empyema. We report a neonate with pleural empyema caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae.
