Özet

Marchiafava-Bignami disease (MBD) associated with chronic alcoholism is a fatal disorder characterized by demyelination of the corpus callosum. It is diagnosed by the imaging of demyelination at the corpus callosum with MRI. This lesion is not only limited to the corpus callosum but also affects the cortico-cortical and cortico-subcortical projections due to disconnection and causes frontal lobe syndromes and dementia. In this article, we presented a case that MBD associated with chronic alcoholism. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
