Özet
The strong association between diabetes mellitus and the cardiac left ventricular hypertrophy can be partially explanatory for the cardiovascular complications and end organ damage in diabetes, In our study we planned to compare the levels of inflammatory markers and albuminuria, the index for renal failure, between type 2 diabetic patients with and without LVH, with the purpose to find out if the following up of the inflammatory markers in Type 2 diabetic patients can be important for the prevention of the development of cardiac and renal complications. 40 patients (24 females, 6 males) of Haseki Education and Investigation Hospital were included in the study, All patients are interrogated for their demographic characteristics. Physical examinations were carried out and glucose, HbA1c, 24-hr rnicroalbuminurea, CRP, fibrinogen and lipid levels were measured. Any history of hypertension, chronic disease or acute infection was also considered. We observed a positive correlation between LV hypertrophy and rnicroalbuminurea and fibrinogen levels (a systemic inflammatory marker) There was no significant relation between LV hypertrophy and CRP. The pro-thrombic factor fibrinogen, which is also used as an indicator of endothelial dysfunction, was significantly raised in patients with LVH Further, a positive correlation was demonstrated between LVH in type 2 diabetic patients and microalbuminurea. which is an indicator of microangiopathy and endothelial dysfunction. Correlations between LVH in type 2 diabetes and fibrinogen and microalbuminurea levels, but not the CRP levels were demonstrated.
