Özet

In this study, the results of observations made in different localities (Edirne and environs, the Istranca Mountains, Igneada and environs) of the Thrace region are evaluated. Field work was carried out during the period 1987-1996, comprising a total of 228 working days in the field. The findings were discussed and compared with data currently available in the literature. As a result, 179 species belonging to 50 families were recorded. These species and related data are collated in a table. The importance of the region and the problems that threaten the ornitho-fauna are discussed.
